Custom work starts with the site, not a catalog. We come out, take detailed measurements of the actual conditions — angles, substrates, level changes — and talk through what’s structurally possible before anything is drawn or priced. From there you get a design and a firm quote. Nothing goes into fabrication until you’ve approved both.

Usually yes. We assess the existing system, hardware profile, and finish, then match as closely as the current product range allows. If an exact match isn’t available, we’ll tell you upfront rather than deliver something that looks nearly right.

Yes. We work from drawings and specifications, and flag anything that won’t meet code or won’t work structurally before fabrication.

Curved glass is possible but costly. More often we achieve the effect with faceted segments — short straight panels following the curve — which reads as curved and costs significantly less.

It depends entirely on what’s non-standard. Extra angles and templating add labor; curved or oversized glass adds material cost. We price it honestly after the site visit, and where a standard solution would work just as well, we’ll say so.

Fabrication usually does, since panels are made to your measurements rather than pulled from stock. We confirm the timeline before you commit.

What Custom Actually Changes

A standard run is measured in lengths. A custom run is measured in angles — every change of direction, every step that is not the same rise as the one below it, every wall that is not quite plumb. We template the opening rather than take a tape to it, and the panels or sections are cut from that template, not from a catalogue size.

That is where the extra cost sits, and it is worth being clear about it: custom work costs more because of the measuring and the fabrication, not because of the material. A curved glass run and a straight one use much the same glass. The difference is that the curved one cannot be re-cut if the template was wrong, so the time goes in up front.

Matching something that already exists is its own job. If half the railing stays and half is replaced, the new work has to meet the old at a profile, a finish and a height that were decided years ago, sometimes by someone who was not working to a standard at all.
